Broadway Tenor John D. Smitherman will visit from New York a third time to serenade lovers on Valentine’s Day, joined by St. George star soprano Rachel Cox.

Tickets for the performance are $30, but for just $25 more you can add in a delectable food and dessert bar featuring Red Fort Indian Cuisine, with dancing post-performance to fun and romantic tunes played by our live award winning “big-band,” from Snow Canyon High School, directed by retiring professor Terry Moore! Choose the “Dinner and A Show” option from the drop down menu when you go to the ticket purchase page. Get everything your Valentine’s day weekend could want, all in one place with dinner, dessert, one drink included and dancing your hearts out with friends or the one you love. Additional beverages will be available for purchase. ALL are welcome!

John D. Smitherman recently made his New Mexico concert debut this past November to double standing ovations and encore. John played the role of Raoul in the world premiere production of Return of the Phantom. He has performed the role of Jean Valjean in Les Miserables in 2014 and 2015 to become part of the elite group that can say they have done “The Big Three” referring to the top three leading man roles in musical theatre; Jekyll & Hyde, Jean Valjean, as well as the Phantom. He has performed well over 100 different roles on the professional opera and theatre stages including The 39 Steps (Richard Hannay) NJ, Boeing-Boeing (Bernard), Out of Order (George) FL, Handy Award: Best Actor in a Comedy, West Side Story (Tony) NY–Salt Award: Best Leading Actor in a Musical, Oklahoma (Curly) FL–Apple Award: Best Leading Actor in a Musical, Showboat (Ravenal), The Pajama Game (Sid) NY–Salt Award: Best Leading Actor in a Musical, Grease (Danny Zuko) FL, Unsinkable Molly Brown (Johnny Brown) NY–Salt Award: Best Leading Actor in a Musical, South Pacific (Lt. Joe Cable) WV-Grandview Award: Best Supporting Actor in a Musical, and the title role(s) in Jekyll & Hyde –Salt Award: Best Leading Actor in a Musical. He has authored several published comedies, including Holy Cannoli, Take My Husband…Please, Watchin’ Waldo, Sorry Wrong Window, Valentine Schmalentine, and the highly acclaimed production of ALL ABOARD…And Then Some! Return of the Phantom is the first musical John has ever written. He can be heard on several recordings: John D. Smitherman…Live, Opera Passion, and By Popular Demand. Much love to his beautiful wife Jessica and two adorable sons, Asher and Roman.

SOCIAL DISTANCE SEATING CHART

Knowing that the presence of art in our lives is essential, we are re-opening our doors in a healthy, safe way. The state may be at the Yellow Phase but we are maintaining the more strict Orange Phase Guidelines for Theaters.

Re-opening guidelines for all performances at the Center for the Arts at Kayenta:

  1. Social distance seating between all ticket groups (SEE SEAT MAP TO LEFT) Please purchase tickets in groups of two or more with family and friends if possible
  2. Temperature checks of all performers before each performance
  3. Mandatory mask wearing for all audience members and front of house staff
  4. Multiple hand sanitizing stations in the Center
  5. Disinfectant cleaning of theater seats, lobby and rest room surfaces after each performance
  6. Cash free transactions, we encourage online ticket purchases directly on our site.
