Heartstrings: Celebrate Beethoven’s 250th Birthday

September 17th @ 8:00 pm

$30

Celebrate Beethoven’s 250th Birthday With Heartstrings & Cello Society Of Southern Utah

Ludwig Van Beethoven was known for his music’s passion, and we’re known for our large cello gatherings. Join us for an iconic evening, on the theater plaza, outside where safety and socially distanced seating will be in perfect harmony! In this 2nd and final installment of Beethoven’s 250th Birthday Celebration, we will be serenaded by the Cello Society of Southern Utah, conducted by Dr. Ka-Wai Yu of Dixie State University. We are thrilled to be making Dr. Yu’s lifelong dream of spreading the music of the cello possible once again. Heartstrings will be a night of education only the instrument itself can give, as we resurrect the passionate, booming string ensemble sound that Beethoven so painstakingly achieved at the turn of the 19th Century. His compositions ushered the world from the Classical era of music, bound by many persistent customs, into the Romantic era, in which musicians copied Beethoven’s “liberal” sense of phrasing. Beethoven started a movement that let music sound more like the passions of the heart than the heavens of perfection dreamed by Classical theorists.

SOCIAL DISTANCE SEATING CHART

Knowing that the presence of art in our lives is essential, we are re-opening our doors in a healthy, safe way. The state may be at the Yellow Phase but we are maintaining the more strict Orange Phase Guidelines for Theaters.

Re-opening guidelines for all performances at the Center for the Arts at Kayenta:

  1. Social distance seating between all ticket groups (SEE SEAT MAP TO LEFT) Please purchase tickets in groups of two or more with family and friends if possible
  2. Temperature checks of all performers before each performance
  3. Mandatory mask wearing for all audience members and front of house staff
  4. Multiple hand sanitizing stations in the Center
  5. Disinfectant cleaning of theater seats, lobby and rest room surfaces after each performance
  6. Cash free transactions, we encourage online ticket purchases directly on our site.

“Only when we all feel safe will we be able to free our spirits to participate with the art being performed.”
